Privacy Policy
The Hiveword privacy policy is based on mutual respect and the
Golden Rule. Basically, we'll treat
your information as we would like ours to be treated. Please read on for the straight-talking details.
Some parts of the Hiveword website do not require an account. Examples include the Writer's Knowledge Base search engine, the character name generator, etc. On the other hand, the novel organizer and Knockout Novel require an account. You may delete your account and its associated data at any time. Request account deletion by emailing support@hiveword.com.
Story DataYour story data is only visible to you. On rare occasions the website operators may need to analyze the data for troubleshooting purposes. Even in this extreme case your data will be kept confidential.
Email AddressesYour email address will be used to send you email, of course. We understand that it is a privilege for us to communicate with you and we will not abuse that honor by sending unwanted emails. Furthermore, you can request that we remove you from our email list at any time. Just send an email to support@hiveword.com.
You can also rest assured that we will not sell, rent, or give away your email address to anyone else.
Web TrackingMost web sites use cookies for tracking aggregate usage metrics. Hiveword is no exception. We use this non-personally identifiable information for checking website marketing performance.
When you become a member we use cookies for remembering that you are logged in. This is personally identifiable information because you signed in as you. If we didn't know it was you, of course, we couldn't retrieve your information for you.
Regardless of the type of tracking, please realize that this is normal and generally the way the web works.
Information SecurityWe do our very best to keep the website and your information secure. We use SSL to encrypt data between your browser and our servers just like banks do. We're serious when it comes to password security which runs from password strength requirements to salted hashes for password storage.
Protection of your credit card information is paramount. There are many guidelines and laws concerning the processing and storage of credit card information. For this reason, Hiveword outsources credit card handling to a PCI-compliant company to ensure that everything is done "by the book." Hiveword does not store or see your credit card information.
Children's Online Privacy Protection ActThe Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) "applies to the collection of personal information from children under 13." However, Hiveword does not actively market to or knowingly accept any users under the age of 13.
